The Chronicles of Baxter

Hello friends,

SoCal checking in - finally! We miss all of you greatly & enjoy stalking you all on facebook. The first week of tour has been great, the rain has stopped and it's beginning to warm up. The first Sunday of tour we were with team Buffalo (SoCal + PNW + TX) at a small restaurant in Huntington Beach. Our bill from breakfast came to almost $100.00, a family behind us saw our vans in the parking lot and assumed the herd of crazy looking kids in the back came with the vans. They offered to treat us to breakfast, the amount of generosity from people thus far has blown us all away.

Although the people have been generous, our van - Baxter, has been a little less forgiving. Good ol' Bax broke down five times in one week. We still don't have a van, it looks like tomorrow we will finally have Bax back!

We're honestly convinced SoCal has a death touch - everything we touch breaks.

Here's our list of things broken in the first week:

• Baxter.
• Kenny's toilet.
• Kenny's shower.
  
• Kenny's car (he let us borrow it, it wouldn't start after we used it - had to jump it).
• Casey's car (Ash W's friend, she gave us a ride the second time our van broke - as soon as we got in - her car died).

....Yeah. We're tentative to give our contacts the infamous "side-hug" - we're afraid they may keel over and die.

That being said - Kenny, Leigh and Jed - we owe you our lives. Trigg - we have you on speed dial. Kyle and Lisa - amazing.

We love and miss you all - keep rocking out on the road!

I didn't rise to the top of the food chain for nothing....

Hello friends!

East Coast misses everyone so much. I know everyone has incredible stories from the drive across our beautiful, sometimes extremely boring, nation. In the first 36 hrs of New England and East Coast's big conquering of the great states of America, we saw Deep South break down in Yuma, had some one with missing teeth and a cute-ugly dog ask us what 'Invisible Chicken' was, and a weight station gaurd call us 'effing kids who probably don't even know where Uganda (with an "and" sound) is. Texas never ended. And Ivory felt like he was born again when we crossed into Louisiana at 4am on Saturday.

At one point we stopped in Midland, Texas at a grocery store. Brit was being her healthy self and buying veggies. In this particular store, and I'm pretty sure only in Texas, there were quotes above each food section of the store, pertaining to the food items being sold there. In Big Texas fashion, above the meat isle it read, "I didn't fight my way to the top of the food chain to be a vegetarian." -unkown. I think they proceeded to offend every vegetarian in the southwest region, including Tyler.

However, perhaps this was just foreshadowing of what was to come. We stopped in Birmingham at my parents house and my mom had made dinner. She made cuban food, all of which was vegetarian except for the pork. But get this, apparently the smell was so good, that Tyler AND Brit both ate pork. what?

All I have to say, is we turned the veggies into food chain fighter champions.

Lalalalal HUH! HUH!

Deep South Starts the Tour With a Bang...well, more like a a violent ticking...

We only knew her for a few days, but we will miss Big Bertha! I believe that we have officially become the first roadie team in IC history to sell their van while on the road.

Thanks to the Laurens for keeping us sane, Bethany and Cameron for handing over our new Lady (we're proud to continue the Deep South legacy!), Eugene and Trig for driving all the way to Yuma to save us, and to everyone else who helped us out in any way, shape, or form. It means a lot!

And a special shout out to Middle America who shared this adventure with us when they didn't even have to :)

Welcome to INVISIBLE CHILDREN TOUR 2009!

Hey all,

This is a blog for us to use on tour to keep up with each other, to entertain ourselves, to let others in on recent splits in our personalities that are changing team dynamics, and generally, stay connected.

We are all going to feel some weird disconnect from the office and from San Diego (except SoCal, you guys are amazing). So this is a way to feel connected to what makes that place home for us: each other.
